Seamless Lives of Faith | Galatians 2:20

A.J. Dieterle ‘25

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

The final week of the semester has come and gone. Just like that, we are halfway through the program. Our final roundtable of the year was a formal one. Rachel Kruse, Rachel Guerra, and Jocelyn Robertson sure did wine and dine us. With just the smallest inkling of dusk in the sky, and the dark winter afternoons taking over, we showed up at the Fuenzalida household. Lining all our cars along the cul-de-sac, we walked in with formal attire on to the smells of spiced cranberry juice, holiday ham, and citrus dressed salad.

I took a big breath of relief upon entering, and I imagine the other fellows did as well. This was our sixth holiday party of the week, but this one was different. There was no schmoozing or boring small talk to be had. All the fellows had completely bonded. All were close friends. This was evident when we filled each other’s glasses with Bracey’s Argentinian wine as we listened to each other’s stories. I could not help but to look on with gratefulness and gratitude for what God had gifted us.

Our RTS Exegetical Paper is due this Friday and people need to get on their horses! The paper will cover a section of the Joseph Cycles. I am writing mine about how God uses Joseph as a Christ Typology. Joseph, like Jesus, was wronged by his fellow man, but understood that God had a plan, and all he had to do was be faithful. I find myself caught between being Joseph’s brothers and desiring to be Joseph. How many times do we knowingly abandon Jesus for our selfish ambitions? I want to die to this. I want, instead, to be like Joseph, walking in faithfulness and redemption.

Lastly, Supreme Court Clerks Ben Daus and Caroline Milner brought impactful insight into how, even in the highest echelons of the American legal system, God rules and reigns. Ben and Caroline, along with their Court Justices hold the line, and honor the Lord despite the enemy’s opposition. They inspired us all to stand against neutrality and stand for the Lord.

I see this first half of our semester as a gift from God for the fellows. We are being equipped and molded. What will we choose to do with this gift? We must not squander it but embrace it. We will put our worldly passions to death, and live like Joseph, and even our speakers Ben and Caroline, who trust in God and honor Him in every stage we find ourselves in.
